So 2012 approaches. Other than the start of the alien colonisation (at least according to The X Files), I’ve been thinking about what to expect. First off, of course, is the publication of my first book. I honestly have no idea how it’s going to be received. Obviously I’m hoping people buy it, like it and tell their friends. Then their friends tell their friends and so on. And then a big Hollywood studio options it and gives me loads of cash. I can live with that. But failing the Hollywood angle, I’ll be happy if people buy my book and enjoy it. That’s why I wrote it, after all.

Other than publication, my plans mainly involve getting Belham to a publishable standard. That should be done by the end of January, I imagine. There’ll be other short stories to write – most of which I haven’t even started to think about let alone plan – and the next book to write. At the moment, it’s a sequel to Belham and has two possible working titles. Bear in mind all this can change and I end up writing a completely different book, but I suspect Belham 2 will be my next big project followed by a book on a different scale. I’m kicking about the idea of a story with a limited but familiar setting. Some kinks to work out in terms of location so we’ll see where that one goes.

As for the rest of 2012, it’s a case of see what happens. I can’t wait.

Merry Christmas to everyone. And roll on next year.
